I think most of us on the East Coast are asking: is it spring already? Winter has been brutally harsh. We are longing for the smell of freshly cut grass; the sound of animals awakening from their sleep blending their voices in harmony.
As we now “march” into springtime (pun intended), I wonder what that will mean for our to-do lists? There will be additional yard work, weeding, mowing. There may even be seeds to plant and outside furniture to clean.
If you are like me, I make my weekly and daily lists crossing off those chores/projects I have completed. But my responsibilities appear endless. I seem to add more and more tasks to my personal and work calendar. It seems I rarely have “time” to socialize…to be in the moment. Yet, each day I realize how important it is to be present…
To laugh at the little things even the annoyances because that is all they are—temporary nuisances
To sing with abandon with friends or alone without being on key…just for fun
To read under a tree or in the backyard…wherever you can quietly travel between the pages; and lose yourself in the discovery of new places, people, or events
To count your blessings even when disaster strikes because we are all blessed in so many ways
To hope…never losing sight that faith is our anchor that grounds us to remain strong and resilient
Hug your little ones…your children, grandchildren, pets—even grown-ups like hugs; embrace and nurture friends and strangers. You may lift someone’s spirit and in the process uplift yourself.
Walk barefoot in the grass. While this may not be possible for all of us to do, I would like to say walk somewhere barefoot…experience the softness of the carpet, the coldness of the ceramic tile, the hardness of the pebbles on the beach. Just feel…
Give thanks…in all things, be grateful and eventually you will experience happiness. Appreciate everything you are given each day…the good, the bad, and the ugly
Love without conditions…recognizing the imperfections in each of us—even me—bring to each relationship
And then, keep on loving for that is all we need…love
Take deep breaths when life becomes overwhelming or stressful…just breathe!
Jump in…dive into your passion today…be present in the moment. Your personal and work projects are important but more significant is living in the now; so jump in!
