How do you handle emotional and physical pain? Do you "give up," "hide," "deny what is happening," "lash out at the world for giving you a raw deal?" Or do you embrace it as an opportunity to experience growth-internal development and external progression? We all understand what it means to personally develop but if you are injured physically and you cannot do all the things you enjoyed doing-all the enormous pleasures you had as an active person, how do you cope?
When life throws obstacles your way and challenges your very being, what do you do? Do those experiences lead you somewhere? Because there are always tragedies in life, we can choose to use them for the good of others which helps our own internal and external healing. Or, we can choose to create more chaos and agony by allowing the hurt to literally eat away at us.
Over the past two years, I have endured some moments of deep anguish both physical and emotional; and in those times of heartache, I have listened to the stories of others who struggled with anxiety, divorce, death, abandonment, addiction, depression, homelessness, illness, and near-death experiences. I started writing my own short story, a memory that haunts me to this day of not being wanted; from there I asked people I knew and people I wanted to know if they would like to be a contributing writer for a book I was compiling called "Pain, Purpose, Passion: That was then, this is now." I felt compelled to know their stories and if their their pain led to their purpose and their passion as it had for me.
And, so, it is with great delight that our book, Pain, Purpose, Passion: That Was Then, This Is Now, 22 Triumphant Journeys, a fascinating collection of inspirational true stories, will soon be published. Not only did I compile the stories, I wrote one of the more candid ones. Publisher and editor Patricia Horan and I have been tirelessly working to produce an inspirational book whose real stories are not only rich in content but, more important, reveal how the authors turned their Pain into Purpose and then into Passion.
Patricia, who operates The Round House Press, is offering organizations, groups, churches, synagogues, schools, etc. who wish to fundraise and inspire others from reading these stories the opportunity to purchase 20 or more copies of the book via a very special pre-order price of $6.50 per book (which will retail for $16.95). This offer will only last through the end of August to you or any of your friends who wish to raise money for a cause.
It is certainly a book that organizations-dealing with cancer, addiction, divorce, grief, homelessness, weight loss and more-churches, therapists, counselors, psychiatrists, social workers and other groups will want to use for special talks and promotions.
